Tour the Historic Barns of Nipmoose and learn in detail about their architectural heritage.

A tour includes all three of the barns as well as the farmhouse. A detailed description of the buildings will be provided including a background history of the farm, the barns and their restoration.

Each of the buildings at the Nipmoose Farm has a unique construction and history which provides insights into the skills of timber framers of America’s early years.

The buildings to be seen include the following:

Scottish Barn: A sixty foot long 18th century timber framed threshing barn with unique joinery, oak beams and tapered posts.

German Barn: A massive mid 19th century hay barn with double cross beams. The German Barn is built adjacent to a twelve foot high dry laid stone wall topped by a flower garden.

Corn Crib: An early 19th century corn crib, with slanted side walls and stone piers, designed to store corn cobs and grain.

Farmhouse: An early 19th century Dutch influenced house frame (plaster and lath have been removed from the interior walls).

In addition to viewing the barns, guests are welcome to enjoy a walk around the Nipmoose Farm which includes an apple orchard, stream and farm fields. A picnic lunch may also be ordered.
